NHPC GM rescued from NDFB clutches

has been rescued from a dense jungle in the Assam-
Agarwal was rescued in a healthy condition from the jungle at Maldang late last night after the encounter between a joint police team and NDFB rebels in which four police personnel were injured, reports PTI.
Among the injured were Sonitpur Superintendent of Police P Kalita, who sustained minor injuries when splinters of a grenade hurled by the rebels hit him, the police said.

The tremendous and consistent efforts made by the State police along with central paramilitary force and the police force of Arunachal Pradesh to rescue Aggarwal were highly applaudable,” NHPC in a release said.
Secretary, Ministry of Power, GoI has also conveyed his gratitude to the Assam Police for the safe release of Aggarwal. He commended each and every Assam Police personnel who were involved in this challenging and delicate assignment.
“The safe and sound return of Aggarwal would not have been possible without the selfless and daring efforts of the Assam police led joint search and rescue operations.”
NHPC also thanked the Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Power, GOI, Governors of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh and the media for extending all support during the hour of grief.
Freed NHPC official recounts days in captivity
Tezpur (Assam), Nov 12: NHPC General Manager Anil Kumar Agarwal, who was rescued from a dense jungle after 51 days in captivity, today said his abductors kept constant vigil on him throughout and he was moved from place to place.

ITANAGAR, Nov 12: Bruised, battered and humiliated but still raring to fight on. That’s how one can describe the three young women from Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) who are battling against all odds to seek justice against alleged molestation. The people of Arunachal were given a rude wake up on October 10th morning with the news that MC Behera, director of the Arunachal Institute of Tribal Studies(AITS) has been charged with molesting a PhD student. The incidents open the Pandora box with many girls coming forward and sharing similar experience.
Not to be outdone easily, the three ladies from department of AITS mustered courage and lodged official complaint against Prof Behera at Doimukh police station and the RGU authorities as well. Meanwhile Prof Behera managed to flee from university on October 9 evening itself when the girls raised voice against his nefarious deed. After a great deal of hue and cry the RGU authorities suspended him on October 17.
However, the trauma of these girls went a notch higher when the accused got interim bail and has come back to the University. While talking to this journalist, the three brave ladies expressed disappointment at the interim bail news.

Reliving October 7 incident, one of the complainer shares her agony: “I joined the RGU PhD program in the month of August. Being new to the university, I had complete faith on Prof Behera as he is head of AITS. Therefore on 7th October when he asked me to come to his quarter to collect notes, I went without any apprehension. As I was waiting for him in the living room, he tried to forcibly molest me. I somehow managed to shake off his grip and ran away.” She continued, “I was quite shocked and did not attend the class next day. On 9th I went to the university campus and shared my trauma with my friends. Then a couple of more girls also shared similar immoral action from the same professor. That’s how our battle started.”
“We had this information that year’s ago, a young woman had complained to then VC about his behavior. Later he wrote a written apology to the young woman. If the University had taken strong action against the professor there and then, we would not have had to undergo similar pain,” shares the other girl.
Demanding no less than termination of Prof Behera from the University and strong punishment under the appropriate section of the law, the trio has appealed to the people of the state to support them in their fight against the injustice.
“Just because Prof Behera is an intellectual and a reputed professor, people should not overlook his wrong doing. We are not going to gain anything by lodging a case against him. In fact, we are putting our reputation and study at stake by doing this. It’s not about 3 of us only; we are doing this to ensure that no girls are molested again on the RGU campus. We are fighting it for the coming generation of Arunachalees who regards the RGU as a temple of excellence. We only want RGU to be safe and secure for the young lady,” the girls repeated in unison.
They further claimed that Prof Behera is levelling “baseless allegations” against them just to cover his misconduct. “To save his skin, now he is trying to portray us in the wrong way. He is alleging that one of the complainants is ganging up against him for not helping with the PhD thesis paper presentation. Come on, Phd is 3 years course and just now we have started the session. How can he level such cheap and scrupulous allegation?

Govt. urged to resume land verification drive
ITANAGAR, Nov 12: In order to take stock and discuss about the activities undertaken so far by the government constituted high level committee on land occupation and allotment issues in the Capital Complex, a team of Capital Complex Land Affected Peoples’ Forum (CCLAPF) called on the Chief Secretary, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh at his office chamber yesterday.
The Forum categorically expressed displeasure and grave concern over sudden halt of the verification/identification drive being carried out by the Chief Estate Officer cum ADM Capital Complex.
The Forum appealed to the Chief Secretary to direct the concern authority to immediately conduct the uniform verification/identification drive in all the sectors and colonies of the Capital Complex before the expiry of two months time as assured by the Chief Minister.
To this effect, a representation was also submitted by the Forum to the Chief Secretary.
After giving a patient hearing, the Chief Secretary assured the visiting delegates that necessary direction shall be passed on to the CEO cum ADM through the DC Capital for immediate resumption of the uniform verification/identification drive, CCLAPF claimed in a release.
The Forum also expressed its concern at the ‘snail pace’ of the government processes to revoke the Order No. DAP/PEN/3/2001/561 Dtd. 17/06/2013 vide which a government employee was required to obtain NOC from concerned DC and CEO for settling their retirement dues and for promotion in services and requested to expedite the process in the larger interest of all the government employees of the state.

Let Siang valley remain self sufficient in food grain production
Dear Editor,
Through the mouthpiece of the state "The Reader's Forum" column of your daily, i want to put forward the anti people policies initiated by so called "People First “Government of Arunachal Pradesh, for the readers to justify my lines.
My point in using the anti people policies is validated by the News item which came out some days ago with the heading " Kurung Kumey heading for Food Crisis" an alarming warning given out by the district Food and Civil Supply Officer (DFCSO) of the concerned district.
Reading the very news item, I was made to drive out a very strong point in support of our fight against the Mega Dams coming up on the Mighty Siang River for which the Govt of AP has signed the MoAs. I was also sad for the reason that the brethrens of Kurung Kumey would be starving if the Governments don't provide PDS items on time as per the feeding strength, which in fact is not the case with us, the tribals living in the Siang valley and for better understanding the Adis whose paddy fields are going to be submerged under the 3 Mega Dams built on river Siang. Remember, we have 36 Mega Dams coming up in our valley and out of 36 dams, we are opposing just only 3 dams. The Government providing us with the PDS rations every month is not a thing concerning any one in any village. People are completely self sufficient, at least with their rice production. And rather a household with a Ration Card is looked down in the village as a lazy and poor man (who wants to be looked down?
I was feeling sad with the people of Kurung Kumey for the reasons that why they are solely dependent upon Govt supplied monthly rations? Another thought also striked in empathy to the people of kurung Kumey and that was in question to the functioning of the office of the department of Agriculture and their duties. Why is the department not doing enough to encourage people to take up paddy farming and be self sufficient and not to only depend on the monthly Govt supplied rations. It is not that Kurung Kumey is a barren wasteland or a desert nor a rocky valley. Infact, Kurung Kumey is in a better place in terms of gradient and slopes of the land contours as compared to the districts of East Siang and Upper Siang except Pasighat.
Here comes the pertinent question to the Government. While we the people of Siang valley are working hard cultivating and growing paddy in our fields, with what visions have you signed MoAs with Power Corporates to build Mega dams by completely submerging all the cultivated and cultivable lands? Do you want that people of Siang valley also cry out for Govt. Supplied ration items like the people of Kurung Kumey every month after letting our paddy fields being submerged under the reservoir waters of the dams forcefully? While your government at the center has passed the so called Food Security Ordinance, how can you forcefully robe people of their fertile cultivated and cultivable lands? With what thought process you have come out with the exclusive idea to force people who are food sufficient presently and make them govt supplied food dependent?
Another news item which came out yesterday in your daily with the heading that "Railways to build the BG upto Pasighat as per new alignment" also has given us the oppurtunity to reply and question back some of the people of Pasighat town, to those people of Pasighat, who have questioned and even condemned us of our movements against the Dams on river siang.
Here, we ask them “how does it feel when it pinches you? While you are not allowing a public development which only needs a passage way of some meters only passing hrough your fields, how can you question us of not allowing all of our cultivated and cultivable lands to be submerged under water permanently? How you guys can be so mean? Remember, we are not simply opposing just to get a good amount of compensation in terms of money like you guys from the government but, we are only opposing 3 Dams out of 36 Mega Dams planned in our area which are going to completely submerge all the cultivated and cultivable lands in an attempt to bring us at par with other districts who are completely at mercy of the government supplying rice to survive every day, every month, every year and till the end their lives. We are infact, the living examples of the kind of people personified by Smti Sonia Gandhi who are hard working, self sufficient and who are least concerned by the Food Security Ordinance conceptualized by the Chairperson of UPA.
So, the two news items have really validated our points for opposing only the three out of thirty six Mega Dams in our areas for which MoAs have already been signed with Power Corporate. And by now, we hope that everyone reading this letter shall come to know the reasons as to why we are seriously concerned to protect our livelihood for our survival.
While we as Arunachalees don't contribute anything to the nation in terms of Tax and in fact are like Pigs kept in the Pigstead and fed freely, We the people of Siang valley opposing the three dams, at least don't want to be burdens on the nation to completely rely on the Governments for food grains to survive our lives.
As the generation next of the great ancestors who stood against the British Army in defending this great valley, we shall always be proud to be self sufficient in food grains and never be a burden to the state or crying for food if the Three Dams on river Siang don't really come up.
We are still looking upon the People First Government to Review and cancel all the Three Dams on river Siang in conformity with the Food Security Ordinance formulated by the same Congress Government at the center, lest the People of Siang District also CRY out like the people of Kurung Kumey through their concern DFCSO.

As per the report published on 12/11/2013 in the leading local daily news paper ‘The Arunachal Times’ it has came to our notice that LBC will visit Taraso, Gumto, Kimin in Papum Pare District, Likabali in West Siang District, GerukaMukh and Dollungmukh under Lower Subansiri to take stock of the ground realities and interact with the people of boundary.
It is therefore requested that the LBC headed by retired Justice Tarun Chatterjee should also visit Digalmukh, Passo under Dissing Passo circle and Seijaso circle of East Kameng District area in the public interest so that line of boundary between the two states may clearly be identified keeping into due consideration the local conditions, tradition and history of the area.

involves the spirit of private entrepreneurships, venturing out far and across the
country and the world and brining in to their respective states fresh ideas and innovations.
Do we have expat communities across the globe and working force beyond the state
and in what numbers? We are too indulged into making fast cash by resorting to blackmailing,
corrupting the officials, commercializing the politics and selling-
